SINOPSIS

Princess Irulan, the daughter of Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, writes journals about her father's betrayal of the Atreides after House Atreides was destroyed by House Harkonnen. Paul Atreides and his pregnant mother, Lady Jessica, Bene Gesserit, go to Sietch Tabr on Arrakis with Stilgar's Fremen troops. While Stilgar and others see signs of the prophecy that a mother and son from the "Outer World" will bring prosperity to Arrakis, some Fremen suspect they are spies.

Though Paul is accepted by the Fremen, Stilgar informs Jessica that she must drink the Water of Life to succeed Sietch Tabr's dying Reverend Mother—a drug that is both fatal for men and women without training. She inherits the memories of all past Reverend Mothers, using her Bene Gesserit training to transmute the liquid and survive. Jessica can communicate with her unborn daughter Alia because the liquid awakens her mind early.
