Good News is a 2025 South Korean black comedy film directed by Byun Sung-hyun and distributed by Netflix. Inspired by a real-life 1970 airplane hijacking, the film follows a secret, multi-agency operation to rescue the passengers. 


SINOPSIS

In 1970, members of the Japanese Red Army Faction hijack a plane departing from Tokyo and demand to be flown to Pyongyang, North Korea. Due to diplomatic complications, intelligence agencies from South Korea, Japan, and the United States must find a way to intervene. 

A shadowy problem-solver known as "Nobody" is brought in to devise a rescue effort. His eccentric plan involves secretly rerouting the hijacked plane to Seoul and disguising the South Korean airport to look like Pyongyang. A series of chaotic, darkly comedic events unfolds as the plan is put into action.

SINOPSIS

Jung-hwan, a professional tiger trainer, spends his days bickering with his teenage daughter Soo-a, who is passionate about dancing. One day, as a zombie virus sweeps across the globe, Jung-hwan sets off with Soo-a, now infected, to the seaside village of Eunbong-ri, where his mother Bam-sun lives, in a desperate attempt to protect his daughter. Amid a society determined to root out the infected, Soo-a shows faint signs of understanding human speech and even reacts to her favorite things, dancing and her grandmother Bam-sun's backscratcher. Refusing to give up on her, Jung-hwan puts his years of tiger taming experience to use and begins training his zombie daughter.

SINOPSIS

The film is set in 1980s Hong Kong. It follows the story of Chan Lok-kwan, a troubled youth who accidentally enters the notorious Kowloon Walled City. Chan, a refugee from the mainland, is trying to survive by participating in underground fighting rings. He seeks to buy a fake ID to improve his life but is betrayed by Mr. Big, a local crime syndicate boss. In a desperate move, Chan steals drug from Mr. Big and flees to the Walled City, where he encounters Cyclone, the local crime lord who rules the area with a mix of authority and compassion.


In the Walled City, Chan learns about the order and chaos within the community and forms bonds with Cyclone and his gang. These experiences force him to reflect on what he wants from the future and what he will do to attain it.


Follows troubled youth Chan Lok-kwun as he accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers the order amidst its chaos, and learns important life lessons along the way.
