SINOPSIS
Set in 2008 during the economic recession, the story centers on Leo, an inquisitive young Latino boy, and his single mother, Sofia, who operates an illegal marijuana business to support their family. Their lives become jeopardized when new neighbors move in: a young white boy and his grandfather, John, a police officer facing forced retirement. Leo and the neighbor boy become friends, creating an inevitable conflict as the presence of law enforcement puts Sofia's illegal activities and her family's future at significant risk. The film highlights the inequities of incarceration rates prevalent during that era and points at the system in place rather than identifying a single villain.
