SINOPSIS

This gruesome and moralising schlock-horror about the terrible effects of high school bullying and overprotective parents never lets up with the pounding rain. When the original male lead became involved in a #MeToo issue, Malaysian filmmaker Sam Quah decided to take an unconventional approach and recast his own 2022 film, preventing a Chinese release. Now that Quah's efforts have paid off, the 2024 version is a box office success throughout East Asia.

The tale revolves around Li Han (Ning Chang), a stunning, pious, and seemingly dedicated single mother who, in order to be near her silent daughter Tong (Shengdi Wang), has taken up a cleaning duty at the school. It's a shame that there's a killer on the prowl who targets youngsters at the school and wears cagoules.

A Place Called Silence is obviously an attempt at societal commentary, but it's not as sophisticated as Hirokazu Kore-eda's recently released Monster, which has a similar premise, or as darkly comedic as the genre classic Heathers. Instead, there are startlingly funny caricatures - the incompetent local police officers and the overbearing landlady. These, along with a tonne of thrilling set pieces and appropriate story turns, kept us thoroughly entertained. Unless, naturally, you've already watched the original from 2022.

SINOPSIS

In 2018, Wade Wilson travels from his planet, Earth-10005, to Earth-616 on the "Sacred Timeline" in the hopes of joining the Avengers and giving his life more purpose after using Cable's time-travel device to stop his girlfriend Vanessa's death. Happy Hogan rejects him, and he leaves and goes back to his universe. After six years, Wade has parted ways with Vanessa, given up on his persona as the masked mercenary Deadpool, and joined his friend and fellow X-Force member Peter Wisdom in their used car sales business.

Wade is kidnapped by the Time Variance Authority at his birthday celebration and taken to Paradox, who informs him that they are an organisation that exists outside of time and keeps an eye on the Sacred Timeline and the larger multiverse. Paradox also offers Wade a significant role on Earth-616. Wade agrees at first, but then Paradox breaks the news that Wade's chronology is collapsing since Logan, the "anchor being" who stabilised it while defending his daughter Laura, died. Wade steals Paradox's TemPad and uses it to go to Logan's tomb in the hopes of resurrecting him and saving their timeline because Paradox intends to use a "Time Ripper" gadget to speed up this process. Wade searches the multiverse for a different alternate reality "variant" of Logan after this fails.

Wade brings a Logan version back to the TVA, but Paradox informs Wade that this variety is regarded as "the worst Wolverine" in the multiverse and that an anchor cannot be replaced. Wade surmises that Paradox is operating without his superiors' knowledge, so he sends Wade and Logan into the Void, where the beast Alioth consumes everything. When Wade tells Logan that the TVA can alter his timeline, Logan decides to collaborate with him. Wade, Logan, and Johnny Storm are apprehended and brought before Cassandra Nova, the formidable and vengeful twin sister of X-Men leader Charles Xavier. After killing Johnny, Cassandra—who had struck an agreement with the TVA to administer the Void—leave Wade and Logan to be devoured by Alioth, but the two escape.

SINOPSIS

Pilot Gyu-Sik and copilot Tae-in of the Sokcho Airport passenger plane fly to Gimpo, Seoul, during the winter of 1971. Following the flight attendants' takeoff instructions, an improvised explosive device goes off, frightening and perplexing everyone on board. Gyu-Sik loses one eye due to the explosion, and Tae-In finds himself in a precarious situation in an increasingly chaotic setting.

The mastermind behind the hijacking scheme, Yong-dae, seizes control of the cockpit and makes threats to fly the aircraft to North Korea. What comes next is an incredible story of bravery and selflessness, along with an in-depth analysis of the hijacker and crew.

This has the drawback of being based on a true story.

Thus, everything about the characters' pasts—pain, anxiety, regret, and choices—was so real and painful.

Not only was Yondae a hijacker, but he was also abused as a child by insane people who called anyone a communist.

Was Taein's decision to let them cross the border, which he experienced during the previous hijacking, the right one? Or would he make a different decision?

My heart broke for him and, as a fan, I could relate to his past, but his actions, of course, didn't make it any easier, so that's the whole emotional conflict, everything was just so terrible, and the acting honestly, they couldn't have picked better performers.

Like a chain reaction, "what if"

Taein's decision to allow the first plane to pass, which left 11 individuals missing to this day, can only indicate that they were either killed, imprisoned, or, worse, given the communist label.

Thus, he made the decision this time to ensure that everyone is secure and that, in the event that he passed away, at least they would know and not have to live in fear.

He practically flung himself on a bomb to save people, which is a terrible decision.

Coz in Yondae's life, his mother passed away, his brother abandoned him, the children in his community were subjected to boiling water, and he was falsely accused. Doesn't it make sense that he ended up so dysfunctional when "normal" people were so quick to label others? Who has the blame?

And beyond that initial hijack, we'll never be able to find out the whole story—did they actually offer the first hijacker money, or did they decide to stay behind because they were fed up with their government?

Did they demand payment in exchange for freeing the hostages? Did they employ technologies from the plane? Did SK decline to reimburse the government employees for the money they failed to return?

However, all of those things motivated Taein to keep their identities secret, protect them, and restore their bodies, or to return them safe.

Who is to blame, if he was a hero and Yondae was a victim? Those were very dreadful days for Korea, but at least things did change.

This terrible deed, I suppose, also discouraged others from trying.

SINOPSIS

The movie is set in Hong Kong in the 1980s. It tells the tale of Chan Lok-kwun, a disturbed young man who unintentionally walks inside the infamous Kowloon Walled City. Lok-kwun, a refugee from the mainland, is trying to survive by engaging in underground fighting rings. The local crime syndicate chief, Mr. Big, betrays him when he tries to purchase a phoney ID in an attempt to better his life. Lok-kwun makes the desperate decision to steal drugs from Mr. Big and escape to the Walled City, where he meets Cyclone, the local crime boss who wields both compassion and authority.

Lok-kwun makes friends with Cyclone and his gang in the Walled City and discovers the order and anarchy that exist there. However, there are fierce fights as Mr. Big and his group attempt to seize control of the Walled City.

It is also revealed that Jim, the infamous "King of Killers" who killed Chau's family, is Chan Lok-kwun's father. Lok-kwun now has to pay for that.

SINOPSIS

Cooper Adams, a firefighter in Philadelphia, rewards his teenage daughter Riley for her high grades by taking her to see pop sensation Lady Raven live. Cooper observes the remarkably high level of police presence surrounding the performance venue there. He finds out from a seller named Jamie that the FBI is hoping to get "the Butcher," a serial killer, because they have learnt he will be present. It is revealed that Cooper is actually the Butcher himself, surreptitiously watching video of Spencer, his most recent hostage, on his phone in a basement. After stealing Jamie's ID card and deciphering the passcode that will allow him to be recognised as an employee, he uses the card to enter a back room and take a police radio.

After setting off an explosion in the kitchen of a food stand after overhearing a lady forecast his whereabouts over the radio, Cooper exploits the ensuing commotion to gain access to the roof, where he meets an FBI profiler named Dr. Josephine Grant, who is leading the manhunt. Riley asks Cooper to stay with her because she is confused by his actions. She talks of being selected to be Lady Raven's "Dreamer Girl," where she gets to dance with the singer live and has access to the backstage area, which Cooper thinks is the only unguarded exit. Riley is chosen to be the "Dreamer Girl" when Cooper tells Lady Raven's uncle that she recently overcame leukaemia.

But Cooper discovers after the show that there are cops stationed to watch the backstage exit as well. He discreetly reveals himself as the Butcher to Lady Raven, threatening to remotely kill Spencer if she does not escort him and Riley out in her limousine. She agrees but requests to visit Riley's home, where she waits for time by outlining the FBI operation to the family and unnerving Cooper by relating Grant's description of him as having obsessive-compulsive disorder and maternal concerns. She also adds that a torn ticket receipt found in an abandoned house and submitted anonymously by the police provided information on the Butcher's attendance at the concert.

After robbing Cooper of his phone, Lady Raven locks herself in the loo. After asking Spencer for information about his whereabouts, she livestreams it to her followers, one of whom locates and saves him. Cooper locks his family upstairs when she outs him to his wife, Rachel, and Lady Raven texts her driver to call the police. When Cooper tries to take off with Lady Raven, her family manages to escape and divert his attention long enough for her to take off in her limousine. When the cops show up, Cooper uses a covert tunnel to escape the house, then dons a SWAT outfit to drive the limousine off with Lady Raven. She opens the window after he reveals his identity and gathers a crowd of admirers to stop him.

SINOPSIS

Governor Scott Buxton and his wife Catherine visit a forest in Adilabad in 1920 while the British Raj is in effect, and it is there that they kidnap Malli, a young Gond girl with artistic aptitude. Komaram Bheem, the guardian of the tribe, disguises himself as Akhtar, a Muslim, and sets off for Delhi to save her. Hyderabad's Nizamate alerts Buxton's office of the approaching threat and suggests that they return the youngster. Relentlessly, Catherine recruits the aspirational Indian Imperial Police officer A. Rama Raju to neutralise the threat, offering him a promotion in exchange for capturing Bheem alive. While wearing disguises, Raju and his uncle Venkateswarulu attend a pro-independence event where Bheem's assistant Lachhu tries to enlist them in Bheem's scheme. Lachhu realises Raju's identity and runs away on the way to Bheem's hiding place. Soon later, Raju and Bheem cooperate to save a child who is stuck in a train disaster after seeing him. Despite having conflicting loyalties, they become good friends.

Bheem discovers that Jenny, an Englishwoman, is staying with the Buxton and proceeds to court her with Raju's assistance. After a celebration at which Bheem and Raju outdance the haughty English guests, Jenny invites Bheem to her home, where he discovers Malli and swears to release her quickly. Raju finds Lachhu and captures him in the interim. Lachhu puts a banded krait on Raju during an interrogation, telling him that the only people who know the antidote are the Gonds, and that he will die soon. Unaware of Raju's true identity, Bheem locates Raju, saves his life, and reveals his tribal identity and goal.That evening, during a celebration honouring Governor Buxton, Bheem's men storm into his home with a truck full of untamed animals and attack Scott's security guards, causing chaos among the attendees. When Raju shows up, he engages Bheem in combat; Bheem eventually has to back down as Buxton threatens Malli with a gun. Raju gets a promotion and Bheem gets arrested.

In a flashback, it is revealed that Raju's father, Alluri Venkatarama Raju, was a revolutionary who was assassinated by British soldiers before he could arm his village with British firearms. After that, Raju fled his village and his fiancée Sita to work as a mole for the police. He was eventually granted access to the gun shipments as a result of his promotion for apprehending Bheem. Raju tries to get Bheem to apologise for what he did, but Bheem decides to flogging in public. Raju is further educated as Bheem sings despite his wounds, inspiring revolt among the gathered audience. While planning an ambush to rescue both of them, he convinces Buxton to secretly execute Bheem in front of Malli. However, Buxton finds out about the scheme, and Raju sustains injuries while saving Malli. Bheem beats Raju with a hammer because he believes Malli is in danger and flees with the girl. Raju is taken into custody and placed in isolation after being charged with treason.
